We are always seeking highly qualified, compassionate, and energetic camp counselors to work at Camp Firefly.
Counselors must have experience working with children diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder or other social communication deficits. It is preferred that counselors have experience at overnight camp settings as well.
Each cabin group has between 4 to 6 children and 2 counselors. Counselors remain with their cabin group for the week and help ensure each campers' safety while at camp. Counselors are responsible for their cabin group at all times and receive 1 full day off while at camp.
Counselors at Camp Firefly have many responsibilities. Depending on counselor qualifications, past camp experience, and directors' discretion.
Counselors
Counselors are required to have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree, preference is given to those with graduate level training. All counselors must have significant experience and interest in working with children with special needs. They must also be able to demonstrate leadership qualities and be able to manage and facilitate small and large group activities. Special consideration will be given to prospective counselors with camp leadership experience.

Support Counselors
Support counselors assist cabin groups when counselors take breaks, have a day off and when cabins need extra assistance. Support Counselors help with daily living tasks, facilitating activities, and promoting camper self-esteem, and facilitating camper friendships. Support Counselors are an integral part of the camp staff, they attend camp for the full session and receive one day off.
